My name is Fred Toxopeus and I sometimes use the nickname “Toxy”, thus ftoxy.com. My wife Harriett and I have been vacationing with our children and grandchildren in Marco Island for the past eleven years. We stayed at the “Eagle’s Nest”, a nice two bedroom timeshare condo about a mile up the beach from Apollo, a few times.
Then
we rented a similar unit to ours in the Apollo. As we sat on the
balcony watching all the beachcombers and the beautiful nightly
sunsets, we decided to purchase our own one bedroom condo to enjoy
ourselves and to rent it to others. We come down from Kalamazoo,
Michigan about three times a year to stay a week at a time during the
off season. We bought a double-wide in Goodland and now spend four of
the winter months in Goodland, only 7 miles from Apollo. We can't
stay at the Apollo because our dog “Cozmo” is not
allowed. I find tennis partners from our renters during the winter
months.
After
we purchased our 902 Apollo condo, we installed beautiful Berber
carpet over the ceramic tile in the living room and bedroom. Some
people thought we were crazy to put carpet over tile but we like the
nice warm, soft feel of carpeting. Our renters like it too. Most of
the units in the Apollo are tile. We are constantly purchasing new
furniture, linens, and towels. We keep the unit painted and
tastefully decorated it. We have received many favorable compliments
from our tenants how beautiful our condo is decorated. Our Condo is
clean. We have a local couple on the island that do an excellent job
of cleaning and taking care of any necessary maintenance. We take a
lot of pride in our condo.

Marco
Island is very clean, quiet and safe. The community is very well
planned with boulevards, sidewalks, palm trees, and gorgeous
flowering shrubs. There is no over-commercialization like most
cities. The traffic is not overly congested like Naples and Fort
Myers. Marco offers all the necessary convenient facilities such as
super markets, excellent restaurants, movie theater, nightclubs,
limited fast food places and good shopping. The city is well laid out
and easy to get around. They have very rigid zoning laws in Marco to
its favor.

The
beaches are clean, sandy and loaded with millions of gorgeous sea
shells. It is indeed a shellers paradise. You can occasionally see
dolphins frolicking in the Gulf. The beautiful year round weather is
due to Marco’s far southerly location in Florida. If there is
ever any nice warm weather in Florida during the year, it will be in
Marco. The mild breezes off the Gulf make it much more pleasant and
warmer than on the ocean side of Florida. It is even pleasant in the
summer.
The island is only six miles long by three miles wide but it is well known and admired around North America and elsewhere in the world. It is a great place to vacation any time of the year.
We
rent our condo over the internet and by telephone. Many of our
renters are repeat renters. We keep a “memory” book on
the coffee table for comments from our renters. They all seem to be
very happy with our 902 Apollo and with vacationing in Marco. We get
some renters who learn about our condo from former renters. Since we
don’t use a rental agency to manage our condo, we can rent it
at the lower rates. We keep our rental rates low to keep our unit
rented.
There are many things to do on Marco Island. There are wave riders and sailboats to rent close to the Apollo. Bicycles and motor scooters are also available to rent. There is a pontoon boat service that picks up people at the Hilton up the beach and takes them on a shelling expedition in the nearby 10,000 uninhabited islands. My wife Harriett really likes this attraction. There is parasailing available up the beach. There are dinner and luncheon cruises out of Marco. There is a cruise boat that ferrys people to Key West for the day. There are also rental boats, canoes and kayaks available nearby. Some tenants fish right off the beach in front or off the rocks at the south end. Charter fishing boats are also available. Marco Island offers some of the best shelling and fishing in the U.S.

The
Apollo is located on the beach at the far tip of the island. It is
very quiet and uncongested here. It offers many services. There is a
large heated pool with a nearby hot tub. There is a fitness center,
and showers available. The popular “Sunset-Grill”
restaurant is located in the building. It has a daily happy hour and
many “TVs” offering many sports channels. It has good
food with a seating area overlooking the Gulf. The Apollo offers
covered parking and is professionally managed. It has a very elegant
lobby.

Our 902 Apollo offers gorgeous sunsets from the balcony overlooking the Gulf. It has a queen sized bed and sofa sleeper. It has an additional kitchen island for more counter space and storage. It has a beautiful full length mirrored wall in the living room. It has micro wave, dishwasher, fully supplied kitchen, cable TVs, CD player, microwave, coffee maker, 2-way beach radios, binoculars, beach towels, beach toys, beach chairs, beach umbrellas and nice chairs and table on the balcony. There are coin operated washers and dryers on the floor.
